The 2017 Day of Caring took place on May 9. Businesses and agencies met a few days before at the Community Building at the park to pick up assignments and shirts. The Day of Caring brings together volunteers, businesses, agencies and other organizations to make improvements throughout the county.
Over 351 volunteers, including high school students, completed approximately 68 projects for non-profits, parks, and other public facilities during this one day. Close to a hundred businesses and organizations made the day possible with in-kind monetary donations and participation in the event. The impact of this day is staggering. This year, volunteers gave close to 2,000 hours of their time and it would have cost over $50,000 to cover the work that was completed. Work, that the non-profit community can't afford to do on their own, was provided and will improve the quality of life for all of us.
The event started with a breakfast at 8:00 am in Washington at the Washington Community Building at the Eastside Park. The event kicked off in Odon at the 1st National Bank at 8:30.
THANKS TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED TO MAKE THIS DAY A SUCCESS!
